The Palace was formerly built, in part, before 1300 and it was supposed that originally it had been a convent or in any case a place of prayer.   The construction continued after that time and in 1439, when the "Comcilio Ecumemico" took place (the only one held in Florence) the Patriarch of Costantinopoli was a guest of the Palace.  The building then went to the Neri Family and here S. Filippo Neri was born in 1515 (probably in room 19.  After many changes ownership, the building was bought by the Clardi Dupre family.  The family is related to the neo-classic sculptor Giovanni Dupre, who was born in Siena on 1817 and died in Florence on 1882...Many sculptures of this artist are in the hotel. 

Hotel Monna Lisa is located in the ancient center of the town.This elegant Renaissance Palace is furnished with fine antique furniture. Old oil paintings and a number of art treasures, these includes the first model Giambologna's "Rapte of Sabines" and neoclassical drawings and statues by Giovanni Duprč (1817-82) the famous sculptor from whom the owner's family is descended .

The hotel is an attractive, unusual establishment suitable for a guest who wish to have a pleasant stay in a delightful atmosphere.
