This quaint traditional stone farmhouse stands half way along the wild and beautiful Sheep’s Head Peninsula in west Cork, overlooking the waters of Dunmanus Bay. This simple cottage has been lovingly restored, and incorporates many traditional features such as low ceilings, steep staircase and a huge inglenook fireplace. Cozy, comfortable and welcoming, it is an ideal homebase for walking, cycling and touring in an area renowned for its spectacular scenery, excellent walking routes, sea, shore and lake angling, and rich archaeological heritage. A leafy lane leads to the pretty harbor village of Ahakista.

Ground floor: Sitting room with large inglenook fireplace leads to semi open-plan kitchen. Separate dining room. Shower room.

First floor: Steep, ladder-like stairway leads to two cosy bedrooms each with double bed. Bathroom. A second staircase, on the other side of the kitchen, leads to two additional bedrooms - one twin and one double. Bathroom.

55 miles of marked paths to explore the wildly beautiful coastline on the doorstep. 
West Cork garden trail, fishing, water sports, pony trekking, golf, pubs and fine restaurants are all available in this area. 

Visit the many prehistoric tombs and monuments on the peninsula. There is a wonderful 'Ring' drive starting outside Bantry, along the Goat's Path to Kilcrohane, then back through Ahakista (stop off at the Air India Memorial), and on to Durrus. Take a trip to Carbery Island to visit the seal colony or arrange a day's sea fishing. The town of Bantry with its stately home of Bantry House, Glengarriff and Ilnacullin gardens are all within easy driving distance.
