Hotel Aviatic

Located in the heart of Paris’s Left Bank, within walking distance from the Seine and transport to everywhere else, the Aviatic is a highly individual hotel with a romantic atmosphere and an elegant designer edge. The hotel has been renovated in 2008. Simple décor with a sophisticated feel: elegant 19^th century furniture from Paris’ flea markets, thick, yielding curtains, walls the colour of raspberries, café-crème coloured paintwork, chairs in chocolate, cherry and vanilla stripes, a hidden garden in the lobby, vintage posters in the breakfast room,– the Aviatic is utterly Left Bank.

The Aviatic staff speak English. Being a family-run establishment, extra care is taken to ensure that guests feel at home and pampered.

Access to the metro, bus and taxi network is just at the end of the road (50 meters).

The Aviatic is well-positioned for the Louvre (15min on foot), the Eiffel Tower (10min by bus), the Musée D’Orsay (10min by metro), Luxembourg Gardens (10 min on foot), Notre-Dame and the Islands (10 min by metro) the whole of the Left Bank (including the Latin Quarter and Luxembourg gardens), the Champs Elysées (10 min by metro) the Marais (15min by metro) and the Sacré-Coeur and Montmartre (20min by metro). Lovely close cafe Les 2 Magots, at Saint-Germain-Des Pres (10 minutes from the hotel).

Paris is not a huge city and has an excellent transport system, so like many other hotels in the centre the Aviatic can claim proximity to well-known monuments and quarters (see above). Where it really comes into its own, however, is for shopping, discovering lesser-known museums and monuments and eating and drinking.

The Aviatic Hotel in Paris is nicely located in the Montparnasse district, near several Metro stops. The rooms are quiet and we had two rooms adjoining--the one with the double bed was TINY, the one with 2 beds was a better size. Bathrooms with no place to put anything (typically European) but with new sinks, great showers. Breakfast not included, but a pretty good deal IF YOU HAVE KIDS, since there's no charge for them; otherwise it would be fairly expensive. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful, kind, and fluent in English.
