Luxury Accommodation in Chianti: suites, double bedrooms and apartments in an
historical villa il Poggiale, near Florence
Villa Il Poggiale is a sixteenth century private villa, currently
converted to a family owned and run Dimora Storica – Historical Residence - in San Casciano Val di Pesa, just 17 km from the center
of Florence.
The property is surrounded by the familiar Chianti landscape: rolling hills, vineyards
and olive groves. The building itself has a magnificent loggia, a Renaissance facade,
traditional Tuscan gardens, outdoor swimming pool - open from June through September -
with a wonderful view.
Accommodation reflects the owners' taste and extreme attention to details, featuring
antique furnishing, four-poster beds, original frescoes and beamed ceilings, eighteenth
century painted doors, original Cotto Fiorentino floors.
The décor is lovely (silk or thick cotton tapestries, from an ancient Tuscan
threadmill).
Bathrooms have been decorated with special care: they all have handmade tiles in pastel
colors, while some of them have painted ceiling and walls.
All rooms are equipped with TV satellite, telephone, computer plug, safe,
air-conditioning, frigo-bar and breakfast tray. Parking available just in from of the main
gate of the Villa.
Villa Il Poggiale also offers massages and basic beauty treatments.
•Meeting room
The "Tinaia", the old wine cellar, is a vast vaulted room opening onto the
garden. It is now used as a meeting room for small conventions (30/40 people).
• Swimming pool (20 x 6 meters)
Open from June 1st to September 30th. On request, a delicious light lunch can be prepared
in the house.
• Transfers
It is possible to book a car transfer service to and from the following destinations:
Florence airport (€ 40), Pisa airport (€ 95), Santa Maria Novella train station
in Florence (€ 35).
• Cooking lessons (from 2 to 10 people on request)
Our chef is an expert in Tuscan cuisine as well as other Italian regions: from the French
influenched Piedmont cooking to the flamboyant cuisine of Naples and Sicily, which still
boasts Arabian and Spanish traces…. We will be glad to arrange with you a tailor made
cookery course.
• Car rental with driver
Cars with driver are available for tours of the surrounding areas and of any other part of
Tuscany.
• Massotherapy (Monday and Wednesday mornings)
Elena is in charge of massages and beauty treatments. Besides her professionalism, Elena
has a very special touch, entirely in tune with the atmosphere of the Poggiale Villa. By
appointment.
The breakfast room
Breakfast is served in the bright and cheerful former playroom of the children. The
buffet that we serve can be justly called a "Tuscan Breakfast". Fresh ricotta
cheese, jams, honey and prosciutto are supplied by nearby farms. Apple cinnamon cake,
fruit tart, brioche bread, chocolate cake and quiches are all home made, some of which
from old family recipes. A lovely day in the countryside starts with a good breakfast.
