History
Villa Le Barone was built as a tower in the middle ages and was the seat of a Baronetcy, hence the name "Le Barone". During the Renaissance, the tower was torn down and converted into the main Farm building. A residence of the famous Della Robbia family since the 16th century, it was restored after the First World War by Marchesa Maria Bianca Viviani Della Robbia as a wine estate.

Maria Bianca was the granddaughter of François de Larderel, a French 18 th century industrialist, who discovered and developed the extraction of boric acid from the geothermal vapors in Tuscany. (From Le Barone you can visit Larderello).  Marie Bianca's daughter, Duchess Franca Visconti, converted the Villa into a charming hotel, retaining the refined atmosphere of an old private house, with its furniture, paintings, books and romantic objects from the past. Le Barone has been renovated to offer all the modern necessary comfort and is now the property of  Duchess Franca Visconti's heirs, who are spending part of the year in Le Barone.

Rooms
Villa Le Barone has 28 individually decorated rooms: each of them has a unique character, with antique furniture, old prints on the walls, pretty fabrics and brightly-colored spreads, terracotta floors. Some of them have rafters and beams. Rooms are in the Main Villa or in renovated cottages and barns. Some have have their own terrace. Two rooms have an historical character: one was Maria Bianca Vivani Della Robbia's room, which has kept its original furniture. The other is located in the tower, overlooking the vineyards, with XVIth century tapestries. To maintain tranquility and authenticity, the rooms have not been equipped with TVs. However, there is a TV lounge in the common areas. Fresh flowers or fresh seasonal fruits are offered in every room.

**One of the best restaurants in the area - see the following information**

"What is the interest of your guests to choose the offer including dinner; since most of our customers say they want to try different restaurants at night?"

From our own experience, we see many of our Guests who choose a B&B solution ending up eating with us at night on a steady basis (like 5 nights out of 5) for the following three reasons:

This is why we encourage guests to take the offer with evening dinner (half pension) that costs only 20€ more per person than the B&B offer.  We make such an attractive offer so as to convince guests to make the right choice. Eating at a restaurant nowadays in Tuscany will fetch you a price of at least 35-45€.  By the way, we charge 39€ to Guests that have chosen the B&B offer and then come to eat at our restaurant.

From the Owner of Villa Le Barone

"We are very keen on guest satisfaction -- and this year was no exception.  Both our ongoing internal survey, as well as Trip Advisor, give us excellent ratings pursuing the improvement trends of past years.  The three items guests liked the most at Villa le Barone were location and the gardens, the overall ambience, and the service.  We had a very good year at Villa le Barone.  Our guests have appreciated our preserved environment, the traditional (and fresh) Tuscan food we serve in our restaurant or on our open terrace, our several initiatives designed to help discover the many facets of Chianti, the many improvements we have made, while keeping the authentic atmosphere of a Renaissance Manor.  Our cooking courses have had a great success, as well as guided tours of Florence, Siena or San Gimignano and, of course, our painting courses."  (2010 hotel customer research)

CLIENT COMMENTS:

"Our stay at Le Barone was fabulous, probably the highlight of the trip, although the entire trip was wonderful.  The grounds were beautiful, lots of foliage, and beautiful, unusual plants.  There were various sitting areas throughout the property that were very charming, the pool was lovely, especially as it was very hot when we were there.  The food and wine were great too, we ended up eating there every night for dinner, they had an outdoor seating area for dinner that was in a garden-like setting, it was really great!  We got to know most of the guests staying there at the same time, and it was fun to gather with them after dinner for before and/or after dinner drink.  We met people from England, Germany and the U. S., it was lots of fun!We usually had breakfast, then layed by the pool reading, talking, taking dips - for a couple of hours, then took day trips to several nearby towns, sightseeing, shopping, etc., then came back to Le Barone for cocktails and dinner.  It was perfect, I would definitely go there again.  In fact, next time I wouldn't stay in Florence at all, it's very close to Le Barone and I just go for the day.  The setting there was very special and the staff was excellent too, very accomodating, I would highly recommend it!"

"I recently spoke to Betty and she RAVED about Le Baron!  She said when they got there she knew her fantasy was fulfilled.  The staff where all very helpful and kind, the service (helping with side trips, etc) was great and the room was absolutely beatiful!  Can't get much better than that! It was interesting, she at first had such big plans for covering so much territory, and ended up with a short stay in Cinque Terre area, then Rome for 3 nights.  She said when they go back to do Venice and the Lakes area, she'll remember Small and Elegant!  Thanks for the help!!"

"Our stay at Le Barone was wonderful.  We had dinner there every night, and the food was superb. Thanks for steering us in their direction."

"Loved Le Barone and the people there too! A winner!!"

"We had a wonderful time.  The hotel was fabulous and just the kind we like – small and personal and very comfortable.  I can’t wait to go back."
