“Principe del Trasimeno” is an old stone country-house, completely restored in accordance with its court style, plunged in the green uncontaminated countryside surrounding Lake Trasimeno, 2 Km from Castiglione del Lago. The ideal place to recover peace and quiet in immediate contact with typical Mediterranean nature. “Principe del Trasimeno” is made up of 13 apartments and offers to its guests a roomy garden with a pinewood to spend quiet relaxing hours. “Principe del Trasimeno” also has a large swimming-pool, not very far from a wonderful masonry gazebo with a stone oven, ideal for outdoor breakfasts and mixed grill of Tuscan and Umbrian specialities in the long summer evenings, in solitude or in the company of the other guests.
“Principe del Trasimeno” has a spacious hall with a big fire place where guests can spend time together or read in quiet. The parking is inside the property completely protected by a wire-net fencing. Guests can also use bicycles to reach the Lake not far from the country-house or to go on excursions on the cycle-path in direct contact with nature. It is very easy to reach Castiglione del Lago, Tuoro, S, Feliciano and Passignano all typical towns of the Trasimeno area, from where it is possible to ferry to the islands.
Lake Trasimeno sits relatively at the mid-point of the Italian peninsula, halfway between north and south as well as east and west. Just inside Umbria near the border with Tuscany and not far from Latium, it is truly surrounded by interesting places. The lake itself is stunning when viewed from a distance but is perhaps less interesting on close inspection. It is a historic site and one well worth viewing, if best from afar. Trasimeno is Italy's largest non-Alpine lake. Garda, Maggiore and Como are all bigger and very different, given their depth. Trasimeno is shallow, no more than 20 feet or so at its deepest point, with reed-filled marshes on many of its shores. The shallowness is not apparent to the first-time visitor, who will more likely see the lake as a giant mirror reflecting beautiful mountains on the north and east sides and giving way to rolling hills on the west and south.Rates 2008
