As seen in Gourmet Magazine.
At Sotheby's Cafe, in the lobby of the auction house's headquarters in New Bond Street, Mayfair, the crowd is a rogue's gallery of magnificently English faces. The signature dish is the lobster club sandwich, for which Sotheby's owner Alfred Taubman had an anonymous prototype flown over from the States for the staff to discuss. The menu also includes grilled fillet of salmon with celeriac gratin, crisp green beans, and roasted peppers as well as Cumberland sausages with fennel, Savoy cabbage, apple, and potato mash with mustard dressing. For dessert, lemon-curd ice cream is lovely, and the espresso brulee is so amazingly sweet it almost makes your teeth ache.
